Entertainment analyst and Chief Executive Officer of Slip Music, Mark Okreku Mantey has accepted the fact that, Agona Swedru Superstar, Patapaa really deserved to take home the honor of the most popular song of the year at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA)

Saturday marked the 19th edition of Ghana’s biggest music awards event, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) in the country’s capital of Accra organized by Charterhouse.

But one category scheme most Ghanaians hoped for the miraculous musician Patapaa was the ‘Most Popular Song of the Year’.

Most entertainment critics argued he was the best to win in the category prior to the event.

However, things went totally bad for Patapaa at the event leading to allegations that he left the scene after it was revealed colleague Fancy Gadam carried the day.

Patapaa had reportedly bragged about winning the 2018 VGMA’s ‘Most Popular Song of the Year Award’ with his international hit song “One Corner”.

But Mark Okraku Mantey speaking on Joy Fm Monday noted that, though Patapaa lost the title to MujahidBello well known as Fancy Gadam’s total Cheat featuring Sarkodie, he (Patapaa) was the obvious winner looking at how his tune “One Connor” became popular in every household throughout the country and beyond. Patapaa was the ‘obvious winner’, he said.

According to him, One Cornor’s lose could be attributed to the fact that, the public didn’t vote for him.

Mark also indicated that, Fancy Gadam’s fans from the North could have been a factor for Patapaa’s woes but maintained he was best placed to have carried the day

Patapaa has accused the organisers of taking money from Fancy Gadam and post event was heard lamenting “I didn’t feel my legs when Fancy Gadam’s name was mentioned” to with he literally became crippled at the mention of Fancy Gadam’s name as the winner.
