Inspirational Ghanaian Gospel singer Efua Black was crowned Gospel Artiste of the year at this year’s Western Gospel Awards.
The fourth edition of the impactful award scheme was organized in the premises of the Word of Life Assemblies of God, Anaji-Tarkoradi, on Sunday, November 10, 2024. The award scheme is aimed at recognizing and rewarding hardworking stakeholders of the Gospel music in the Western region of Ghana.
This year’s edition was a collaborative effort from Prolific GH and Musician Union of Ghana (MUSIGA). Maxwell Bills, the CEO of Prolific GH and the brain behind the Western Gospel Awards, has received some congratulatory messages after the awards ceremony. This shows the level of positivity of the event.
The highly regarded awards event had the likes of Team Eternity, Kofi Karikari, Lady Joy, Ruger Quarm, Lordable Holm, among other great musical ministers from Takoradi, administering to the audience. Legendary Rev. Yawson and Tagoe Sisters came through to grace the stage with their glorious presence and performance.
Efua Black won three awards out of six nominations at the awards ceremony. She was awarded the Western Gospel Female Artiste of the Year, Western Gospel Songwriter of the Year, and the overall Western Gospel Artiste of the Year. This shows how dominant the artiste has been in the Gospel music industry in the western part of the country.
She has identified her musical talent as her point of contact to the prospective audience of her ministry.
The Takoradi-based Gospel singer was nominated for the Female Gospel Artiste of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Gospel Artiste of the Year. Her mega hit song, Me Hia Wo, found itself nominated for the Gospel Song of the Year, Best Lyrical Content of the Year, and Gospel Music Video of the Year.
Efua Black was in Accra and Kumasi a few months ago for brand introduction, to widen her market scope, and to fulfill God’s plans in her life. She has identified her music career as a potent tool to spread the word of God. Her dominance in the Western Gospel music market will aid her in gaining prominence in the Ghanaian Gospel music industry.
Having the experience of about half a decade in the music ministry in the Western region of the country, Efua and her team must be proud of their accomplishments. Her musical journey commenced with a prophecy in the year, 2014. She is doing so well with the adventure and currently has nine songs to her credit and a three-track EP, The Only God EP.
Efua Black can capitalize on this great status to extend her fanbase. Her purposeful music career is filled with prospects, and Ghana, as a whole, should have a taste of what she has to offer.
