Ghanaian-Canadian musical artist Kofi Mante has officially released his latest single, “Tontonte,” featuring renowned traditional music sensation Atimbila.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Kofi Mante explained that while the term “Tontonte” is commonly associated with alcohol consumption, he intentionally broadened the song’s message to reflect different lifestyle choices among friends and community members.

According to the artist, the phrase “Yen nom yen fa adwene” forms the foundation of the song’s concept, encouraging listeners to reflect on personal choices without passing judgment on others. He noted that some people prefer alcohol while others choose cannabis for recreational or medicinal reasons, and the song acknowledges these realities from a neutral perspective.

Kofi Mante revealed that he wanted the track to stand out as something unique and culturally authentic. For that reason, he chose Atimbila as the featured artist, describing him as one of the most distinctive musicians capable of bringing the song’s vision to life.

The collaboration came together seamlessly, he said, especially when Atimbila introduced the signature sounds of the kologo. The traditional instrument immediately set the tone for the record and convinced him that they had created something special.

With its fusion of contemporary storytelling and indigenous Ghanaian musical elements, “Tontonte” is expected to resonate with music lovers both in Ghana and across the diaspora, further showcasing Kofi Mante’s creativity and Atimbila’s unique traditional sound.
The song is now available on major digital streaming platforms.
