– Hammer says Charter House should’ve awarded Patapaa’s ‘One Corner’ instead of Fancy Gadam’s ‘Total Cheat’
– The ‘Last Two’ boss believes no Ghanaian song was bigger than Patapaa’s ‘One Corner’ the whole of 2017
Renowned Ghanaian music producer, Edward Nana Poku Osei, popularly known as Hammer has slammed Charterhouse for not awarding Patapaa’s ‘One Corner’ as the ‘Most Popular Song of the Year’ at the just ended VGMAs.
According to Hammer, it was clear the popularity of the ‘One Corner’ song was all over the streets both home and abroad, and did not need public votes.

Speaking in a Facebook post, the popular record producer said there was no song bigger than Patapaa’s ‘One Corner’ in the whole of 2017.
Therefore, VGMA Board should have made the ‘Most Popular Song of the Year Award’ category their preserve instead of depending on public voting.
“How do you vote for the most popular song of the year… Popular means popular period. This should be unanimous by the board and academy… Backed by data from radio stations. You can’t ask to vote for this! That’s how you end up with the wrong song. Cos votes can be bought.” Hammer lamented.
The ‘Last Two’ boss in his Facebook post, added that it will be easy for an artiste to buy his way through if the VGMA Board was going to depend on public vote by SMS.
“Just buy loads of credits, get your team to embark on heavy voting. This means u compromise the legitimacy of the awards just for the coins you’ll make from votes,” he said.
Hammer therefore described the decision by Charterhouse to award Fancy Gadam over the Swedru-based young artiste as unfair.
“Not fair… No song was bigger than one corner in 2017.. why u dey play with ppls struggle and hustle? The boy chop the thing hands down. Stop playing with ppls hard work and emotions. Not cool,” Hammer added.
Patapaa’s ‘One Corner’ and some other songs lost out to Fancy Gadam’s ‘Total Cheat’ in the ‘Most Popular Song of the Year’ category at the recently held VGMA
