Residents of Birem in the Sekyere East District are expressing frustration and disappointment over the deplorable state of road networks and lack of electricity in their community.
The roads in Birem have been in a poor condition for years, making transportation and access to basic services a daily struggle. Potholes and craters litter the roads, causing damage to vehicles and posing a risk to pedestrians.
Despite numerous promises, the community remains without reliable electricity. Residents rely on generators and candles, which are expensive and hazardous.
“We’re tired of empty promises,” said a resident. “Our children can’t study properly without electricity, and our businesses suffer due to bad roads.”
The residents are fed up with the deplorable state of their roads and the lack of reliable electricity. Despite years of promises from politicians, nothing seems to have changed.
The community has come together, united in their determination to take a stand. They’ve issued a bold ultimatum: fix our roads and provide us with electricity, or we’ll boycott the upcoming elections, It’s a desperate cry for attention, a plea for the basic necessities that most take for granted.
“We need urgent attention to these basic infrastructure needs,” added Kofi Owusu, a local businessman.
Residents are urging the Sekyere East District Assembly and government officials to repair and maintain road networks, provide reliable electricity, and invest in community development projects
The Sekyere East District Assembly and relevant authorities must prioritize the needs of Birem residents, addressing these critical infrastructure challenges to improve quality of life and economic opportunities.
