Shatta Wale’s ‘Ghana Is A Village’ Comment Used By UDS In End Of Semester Examination

Shatta Wale’s controversial ‘Ghana Is A Village” comment has been used by University for Development Studies in their end of Semester Examination.

This comes weeks after Shatta said at his Reign Album Concert Tour in London that Ghana is a Village.

His comments sparked outrage, a lot of people were of the view that Ghana is never a village and that Shatta Wale disgraced Ghana with his loose statement.

But then, another school of thought had it that there was nothing wrong with the comment made by the African Dancehall King.

Because a look at how things go on in Ghana as compared to other countries clearly shows that Ghana is a village.

Minister of Tourism for Ghana, Hon. Catherine Afeku also commented on the issue.

According to her, what the Dancehall musician said is a wake up call.

She noted that she watched Shatta Wale’s London Concert Live so she saw what led to him saying “Ghana is a Village”.

And that Shatta didn’t mean to degrade Ghana but rather call on Ghanaians living abroad to come back home and help develop the country.

“I watched the concert he did in London and Armsterdam on Youtube. There are a lot of diaspora that he was more like you at the environment you live in…look what you left home. Why don’t you come and also build the home that you left?; for me, that was how i interpreted it, Hon. Afeku said.

Being very positive, I felt that he was making a call to duty for our diaspora…he was not denigrating…but it was a call to action”, the Honorable Minister further said.
