Contrary to long-standing rumours that a rift caused their breakup, the Lumba Brothers broken up of their own accord, one half of the music duo Ernest Acheampong popularly known as Nana Acheampong has stated.

According to him, he and his partner Charles Kwadwo Fosu, also known as Daddy Lumba, never had any problem, indicating that the much talked about ‘beef’ was created by fans.

“People thought our decision to go solo was because of money, a woman or something else, but I tell you nothing of that sort ever happened”.

The two released hit tracks during the upsurge of ‘Burger Highlife’ in the 1980s but went their separate ways thereafter.

Though their decision to break up can be described as a good one as bith of them have been very successful as solo artistes, there have been many rumours concerning their split.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Abusua FM over the weekend, Nana Acheampong explained:

“I think people will conclude that because of how we started and the good relationship we had. So people exaggerated finally that, there was a grudge between us. I will say it was people who created those ‘beef’ it weren’t real”.

He hinted of a collaborative album which will mark the return of the ‘Lumba Brothers’

‘We have made some recordings which we intend to release but due to time factor, it’s not been completed”, he said.
