Many people are of the assertion that Ghanaian highlife music is dead.

With the influx of so many genres such as Reggae/ Dancehall, Afropop, among others into the Ghanaian music as a result of the dynamism in music as well as globalization has led to the blend of cultural values which includes that of music as well.

A clear proof of such trends is “AKOSUA DOMPO”,an afro-highlife banger written, arranged and sang by afro highlife sensational ABOATEA KWASI.

The song which was recorded and mixed by Frimpee of Vibes Recording Studios, has got a feel of the old as well as the new, that is a feel of Highlife and the Afropop rhythms.

The single off Aboatea Kwasi’s yet to be released “DAAKYE ALBUM” is set to be out on October 28th, 2019. AKOSUA DOMPO’ is a true modernization of highlife music to a more current level.

The instrumentations, vocals, content, as well as the arrangements of the ‘3b3fa’ hitmakers ‘AKOSUA DOMPO’ song, a new term which means “someone whom you love and Love’s you too” attest to the fact that highlife music is not dead but has just been modernized.

According to the Collins Blakk Music art,as the Akans say, “3mer3 danea, d’ane woho bi”……”highlife music is not dead but rather, it has just been modernized or in simple terms ‘garnished’ to suit the taste of all.

The Kwahu Mpraeso native made these assertions in an interview monitored by Promoter Koolic.
