Formerly known in gospel music circles as Eric Jappah, the gifted artist is charting a new course in his musical journey, blending the spiritual depth of his gospel roots with the vibrant energy of highlife and Afro rhythms. His story is one of growth, setbacks, and a remarkable resurgence that is inspiring many within and beyond the entertainment space.

Born Siaw Eric, King Jappah hails from Aduamoa Kwahu, where his love for music first took root. He began his academic life in his hometown, completing both primary and junior high school before advancing to Kwahu Mpraeso Secondary School where he was known as Jappah Tapentan and alot more monikers like jappah the Rapper. Determined to improve his academic standing, he later pursued remedial classes at St. Peter’s—a reflection of his tenacity and commitment to personal growth.

Music found him early, but his professional exposure started in the gospel scene under the name Eric Jappah. Known for his uplifting songs and heartfelt performances, he ministered through music in ways that touched lives and stirred faith. However, it wasn’t long before a friend, Osei Charles, introduced him to a different world—one shaped by the legendary highlife melodies of Ampofo Agyei.

Jappah soon found himself drawing crowds with his renditions of timeless classics, especially Agartha by Nana Ampadu. His talent didn’t go unnoticed. Audiences were moved not just by the voice, but by the sincerity of the performer behind it, often responding with spontaneous gifts and support.

With growing attention came connections. As the breadwinner of a large family of 14, Jappah had to put his dreams on hold to prioritize his household—a move that saw him step away from the limelight for several years.

But legends don’t fade they evolve.

Two years ago, King Jappah reemerged from hibernation with a renewed focus and a new name to match. His comeback single, Adanko, produced by the renowned Dr Ray, was a bold statement of intent. It signaled not just a return, but a transformation—an artist reborn and ready to soar and Odikro as well
