OUR TASK IS TO DISCOVER THE TALENTED KIDZ AND PUT THEM WHERE THEY TRULY BELONG–SYLVESTER

Understanding the essence of Talent discovery in young children is a fundamental responsibility of every parent and guardian since the future looks brighter for them if it is encouraged and supported.

In this 21st Century Africa, the meaning of Talent has changed from what used to be explained by some orthodox parents as irrelevant, to what is now known as the future. Talent, according to the Merriam-webster online dictionary is a “natural aptitude or skill” and must not be left wasted.

Talented Kidz is a platform given to young children to discover, groom and showcase their God-given Talents. Notwithstanding the challenges some young children face especially in rural communities, others do come out with flying colors. This literally reflects the fact that if equal opportunities are given to young and vulnerable children in rural communities, many will come out to do greater things for themselves and their various communities.

The relevance of this event has ignited maximum support from many people including the CEO of Westlion Group, Paul Frimpong who said “Platforms like the Talented Kidz must be encouraged as a tool to help unearth the talents in our young ones”.”I believe that creating the platform to allow young kids to unearth their talents is noble”.

The wide gap between opportunities found in rural communities and those in the urban areas must be closed and this is what the organizers of the 6th Edition of the Talented Kidz, which is set to take place at the Community Center, New Edubiase on Sunday, 24th December, 2017, seeks to do. “We want to bring what we see in big places to where we come from. We want to change the status quo. There are great talents in rural communities and our task is to discover them, and put them where they truly belong.” said Sylvester Owusu Antwi, Co-Founder and Event Manager, Talented Kidz 2017.

Being optimistic about creating a platform for young children to showcase their talent, the then 21 years old student had to design the show, with the help of his colleague Tano Kofi Innocent, to help young and vulnerable talents in under-privileged communities, starting from his hometown, New Edubiase and to be expanded to other places as time goes on. The show was primarily depicted from the TV3 Talented Kidz reality show but over the years, the organizers have initiated several features to make it distinct.

As their audience size keep growing at a rate of 25{c151fd8a147ddff852f5795900bc3f49fb6f3f3def38a8fe7b2489f983e107b3} and 40{c151fd8a147ddff852f5795900bc3f49fb6f3f3def38a8fe7b2489f983e107b3} in 2013 and 2015 respectively, according to a study conducted by Afro360 Communications, an integrated Marketing Communication firm based in Accra, 2017 is expected to be a good year for the Talented Kidz, since the organizers have anticipated more than 95{c151fd8a147ddff852f5795900bc3f49fb6f3f3def38a8fe7b2489f983e107b3} growth in their Audience Size. They have expanded their discovery base across the entire Adansi South and some selected part of the Adansi North District. ”We are looking out for more than 1,000 people on Sunday, 24th December, and close to 100 talents for the auditions on Saturday, 25th November”. Event Co-coordinator, Tano Kofi Innocent told Kumikasa.com.

As they prepare to kick-start their first ever auditions with the partnership of some Information Centers in selected communities to facilitate the registration of the talents, and to communicate their key messages to the general public. The Auditions will take place at New Edubiase on the 25th November, 2017 after which the selected contestants will go through bootcamp session before the Grande Finale and main event in December.

“This is the first time we are holding an Auditions to filter and select the standardized ones from the lot, but those who do not meet the standard would go through some standardization training to inspire their confidence for next year”. Sylvester told KumiKasa.com.
