Protocol is a platform and a tool for successful diplomacy. It is the job of protocol officers to clear the hurdles in the best way they can so the diplomatic and political leadership is able to pursue the agenda at hand in the national interest.

It is the facet of diplomacy that works behind the scene. Good protocol is the framework that sets the tone and creates the atmosphere for effective diplomacy.

Many times, we tend to forget that behind any successful presidential or state event, there are men and women working tirelessly behind the scene to ensure a smooth operation before, during and after the event or activity to ensure everything goes well without a glitch.

It is mind boggling to consider the magnitude of work that goes into these kinds of matters such as transport arrangement, accommodation, food and security to name a few. It’s therefore easy to forget the people working behind the scenes to ensure everything goes according to plan.

An article is in circulation and the objective of the article seeks to denigrate the hard work of our national protocol; at the just ended National Governors Association Winter Meeting in Washington DC where President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo delivered a historic keynote speech.

The video above shows a different perspective of how the head of state protocol Ambassador Ahmed Hassan was going about his duty diligently. Please take your time and observe the first 37 seconds on the video and appreciate the other perspective of the actions that followed.

It’s easy to write bad articles about hardworking people and feed people with the wrong news and increase our following and ratings. We at Desiderata News would like to take this opportunity to advise all our fellow bloggers, journalists, news agencies both online and print media to put a stop to these attitudes. We are aware that bad news sells faster. But for once let us put the interest of our nation first, for it is through our eyes that the world sees how our dear nation is doing. If we cannot appreciate our hardworking men and women of Ghana let us not discourage them.

Our focus should be on the historic keynote address given by the President Nana Akufo Addo at the NGA Winter Meeting in DC. Founded in 1908, the National Governors Association (NGA) is the collective voice of the nation’s governors and one of Washington, D.C.’s most respected public policy organizations. Its members are the governors of the 55 states, territories and commonwealths.

NGA provides governors and their senior staff members with services that range from representing states on Capitol Hill and before the Administration on key federal issues to developing and implementing innovative solutions to public policy challenges through the NGA Center for Best Practices. NGA also provides management and technical assistance to both new and incumbent governors.
