Farmers Day Celebration:Police Officer Wins Best Non Traditional Farmer In Kwahu East

A police officer Mr. Godwin Asomani was crowned Best Non Traditional farmer in Kwahu East District Assembly of Eastern Region during the National Farmers Day celebration last Friday 7th December, 2018.

The District Chief Executive for the area Hon Isaac Agyapong addressing the gathering at AkwahiHu ensured his outfit together with the Member of Parliament for Abetifi constituency Hon Bryan Acheampong will support farmers in the district by creating a proper environment.

The 39 year old police officer, a father of three was among thirty farmers (30) who were honored in the district some went home with items including spraying machines, cutlasses, motor bike, tricycle, bicycle and more.

Speaking in an interview with Nkawkaw based radio station Agoo fm, Mr. Godwin Asomani revealed to Ebenezer Kojo Nyavor (K-Lover) that, he together with his fourteen (14) year old son Kelvin Asomani work to ensure the success of his farm.

According to him, in his absence at home to perform other official duties as police officer, Kelvin Asonami plays all the vital roles after he had managed to make all the necessary arrangement.
The Suminakese (a suburb of Abetifi) based police cum farmer expressed heartfelt over farming activities adding that, should he had had support from government and other non-governmental organizations, he would prefer to expand the structure of his farm.

Rearing of rabbits, grasscutter, snails in a minimum size he said are part of his daily activities in farming. He urged the youth to engage in farming since it is another great opportunity to address unemployment situation in the country.

The 2018 district best farmer in Kwahu East Nana Asiamah Bempong advised his colleague farmers to stay away from abuse of tramadol and other drug abuse.
According to him some farmers usually take in drugs to boost their energy for the job a situation he believes it’s dangerous to their health.
