Residents and grassroots members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Abuakwa North are urging President John Dramani Mahama to consider Hon. Charles Darko Yeboah, popularly known as Hon. Ozay, for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area.
Hon. Ozay’s dedication to the NDC and the Abuakwa North community is truly inspiring. As a two-term Parliamentary candidate, he has demonstrated remarkable resilience and commitment, narrowing the gap with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2000 votes to 730 votes.
Despite facing personal challenges, including allegations from the NPP that affected his businesses, Hon. Ozay persevered and continued to support the NDC. His contributions to the community are noteworthy, providing for those in need, paying school fees, and caring for the vulnerable.
The call for Hon. Ozay’s appointment as MCE is not only a recognition of his efforts but also a step towards the development of Abuakwa North. His appointment would be a well-deserved reward and a testament to the NDC’s appreciation for his efforts.
As outlined in Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act 2016, the President appoints MCEs, subject to approval by not less than two-thirds majority of assembly members.
The Abuakwa North constituency has historically been a stronghold of the NPP, but Hon. Ozay’s efforts have helped to bridge the gap.
The grassroots and residents of Abuakwa North are hopeful that President Mahama will consider Hon. Ozay’s appointment as MCE, recognizing his dedication and commitment to the party and the community.
