Patriotic Health Team, a group of astute Nurses, Medical Doctors, Biomedical Engineers, Midwives, other health professionals, and none health professionals commends the government of Ghana for its great investment into the health sector

The Akufo-Addo led government has contributed immensely to the various sectors of Ghana’s economy, and what makes this administration unique is how projects are distributed proportionally across the length and breadth of the country, hence sharing the national cake equally for all to enjoy.

We believe the name of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would never go into extinction taking into account the various developmental projects his government has erected and still erecting for the advancement and betterment of Ghana, critical of all sectors is the Health Sector.

Over the period, nations have been hit hard with COVID-19 and the latter was declared a global pandemic, taking into account how swift the nature of the virus and its impact on infected individuals. The Akufo-Addo led government did not only manage the condition well in Ghana and Africa at large but putting measures in place to protect the population and unborn generations through building and equipping health facilities and the health care system in the country for the unknown, this we say is a true sign of good leadership with empathy and vision for societal development and growth.

On Tuesday 17th August 2021, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in Trede a town in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti region performed a ceremony for the commencement of the government’s Agenda of constructing 101 District Hospitals, 6 Regional Hospitals in the newly created regions, as well as 1 Regional Hospital in the Western Region, 2 Psychiatric Hospitals in Kumasi and Tamale and redevelop the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, hence Agenda 111. The Project Implementation Committee chaired by Chief of Staff, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare had secured sites and land titles for 88 out of the 101 district hospitals, and each unit costing US$17 million, covering 15 acres.

The projects are expected to be in completion within 12 months, starting from the point of commencement is a panacea for long distanced health care delivery in the country.

From providing each constituency in the country with an ambulance, the government is constructing hospitals to bridge the gap which has been in existence since time immemorial.

It must also be stated that all hospitals would have a complement of staff accommodation for Doctors, Nurses, and other health workers. The facilities, which would be fully equipped with state-of-the-art District Hospitals, will have facilities for Outpatient services including consultation facilities for medical and surgical cases, Ophthalmology, Dental and Physiotherapy, and imaging services. Other facilities provided include

Maternal and Child Health, Public health, 4 state-of-the-art surgical theatres for Maternity, Obstetrics, and Gynecology, Accident and Emergency and General Surgery. In addition, the facilities will have the full complement of male, female, pediatric, and isolation wards. Provision is made for support facilities that include Kitchen, Laundry, Sterilization, Mortuary, Energy Centre and Maintenance

This vision of the President is helping Ghana to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Goal number 3 (SDG3) which states “To ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.” usually referred to as “Good Health and Well-being”.

This would also be a fulfillment of the government’s policy of a hospital in each district and region which is geared towards improving the geographical coverage of healthcare delivery in the country while offering improved access to healthcare for the good people of Ghana.

This project by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led government, we believe in the long run would recruit more health professionals and create employment, decent jobs for that matter which would also aid in fulfilling United Nations’ Sustainable Goal number 8 (SDG8) which states, “*Promote development-oriented policies that support productive activities, decent job creation, entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation.”* usually referred to as “decent work and economic growth”.

It must be stated that this kind of heavy investment in our healthcare system is the first of its kind in the history of Ghana.

H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo has proven that He is a born and trained leader, one with a vision geared towards socio-economic growth, a leader with empathy for all Ghanaians, a leader who thinks about the future and not the next election, a leader of time and season.

Ghana is blessed to have him in the highest office of the land.

May God bless our homeland Ghana!
