The organizers of the maiden Miss Kidi Ghana reality show has expressed discontent with the suspension of the programme on the Joy Prime channel.

Joy Prime on Monday announced the suspension of the programme following certain contents aired on the last episode which attracted attention among child rights groups.

But Miss Ghana in a statement says content on the show takes into consideration the welfare of the children.

A statement they released said: “We are disappointed by the lack of professionalism exhibited by Joy Prime regarding their publication on this subject matter.

“With all intents and purposes, the publication is a calculated attempt to jeopardize the good will of Miss Kidi Ghana.

“First, the welfare principle (of children) has been the keystone that has driven Miss Kidi Ghana. And ‘at all times’ we have taken steps to ensure that we protect the welfare of children in our quest to nurture children with talents, and to enable them to realise their full potential.

“Due to this, before every episode of Miss Kidi Ghana is aired on Joy Prime we send the feed not less that 72 for the approval of the media company whose platform would be used to air it (ie. JoyPrime).

“There has been no instance where the show has been aired on Joy Prime without their approval of the contents we present to them.

“We are not oblivious of the fact that children need to be protected. It is for that reason that we make sure that the content we present for airing are devoid of any substance that may be detrimental to any child.

“We are of the opinion that Joy Prime’s publication on the suspension of Miss Kidi Ghana is a breach of our contractual right, and well as, the rights of third party sponsors.

In the interim, we wish to apologize to all our audience, and we also would want to assure them that we would insist on what is legally and contractually right.”
