The Ketu South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Elliot Edem Agbenorwu has commissioned a three (3) unit classroom block with ancillary facilities for Glitame M. A. Basic School in the Klikor Traditional Area of the Volta Region.
The new infrastructural facility was built within a record time of four (4) months from the District Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF) at the cost of Two Hundred and Forty-Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc245,000.00).

The inaugurated block which has a Headteacher’s office and Staff Common Room as well as a two (2) seater place of convenience, would go a long way to remove some of the classes from poor sheds and very dilapidated structures, which have negatively affected quality teaching and learning in the community for several years.

The school which was started in 1980 with about sixty-six (66) pupils, currently has a pupil-enrolment of more than two hundred (200) with a full complement of teachers. It has one stream running from Kindergarten (KG) one (1) to Junior High School (JHS) Form Three (3).
Inaugurating the facility, the MCE noted that education is the bedrock for the development of any nation, explaining that it opens doors of opportunities for its citizens apart from the fact that it is largely perceived as an indispensable tool for meeting the nation’s social, political, moral, cultural and economic aspirations.

Hon. Agbenorwu gave the assurance that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has the interest of the education of the Ghanaian child at heart hence the uttermost priority it places on education, culminating in the introduction of various educational initiatives and interventions including the free Senior High School (SHS) policy which has tremendously increased access to secondary education in the past few years.
The MCE used the opportunity to encourage teachers in the school and the municipality as a whole to continue to be hardworking and dedicated in their quest to teach and shape the future of their pupils.
The Municipal Director of Education (MDE), Mr. Michael Yao Tsuia-tor-fe was grateful to the Municipal Assembly and the MCE for the gesture, adding that the facility would enhance effective teaching and learning in the school.
He also lauded the Assembly for its recent provision of five hundred (500) dual and mono desks for distribution to some selected schools in the municipality. Mr. Tsuia-tor-fe noted that projects of this nature are hard to come by. He therefore charged management of the school to take good care of the facility.
The NPP Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the Ketu South Constituency in the November, 2020 elections, Mr. David Quarshie Tianho commended the chiefs and people of Glitame for their selflessness and hardworking spirit which have gained them a lot of reputation over the years. He therefore appealed to the people not only to give him the nod to serve them in the country’s Legislature but also give President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo another four years to turn round the economic and social fortunes of the people.
The Headteacher of the school, Mr. Marvelous Degbor was extremely grateful to government through the Assembly for the gesture. According to him, the provision of this new classroom block has come at the right time.
The ceremony was witnessed by a large number of the residents including parents, some traditional rulers, key and other staff of the Municipal Assembly as well as all the stakeholders of the Glitame community.
