Host of Onua Showbiz, Nana Kwame Gyan, has stated that the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central Constituency, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has exposed many Members of Parliament by proving that they can do a lot of good in their constituencies without relying on the government.
Speaking on his show last Saturday, he lauded A-Plus for the grand Easter Carnival he held in his constituency this year, highlighting the fact that it was done without government support.
“A-Plus has come to expose all of you that you are just in Parliament with dishonesty. Just look at the carnival he organized for his people during this Easter period. He never raised it on the floor of Parliament. He took it upon himself to take advantage of the Easter festivities to bring attention to his constituency,” he said.
He further addressed the roles of Members of Parliament, explaining that with the privileges and connections they have, they can promote development in their constituencies and improve the lives of their constituents in many ways without government involvement.
“For nothing at all, as an MP, you have certain links and privileges that can help you provide your constituents with good things without Parliament or the government having a hand in it. If you are fortunate enough to be on a parliamentary select committee, it gives you even more opportunities to support your constituents through your own efforts if your lobbying is not given attention. That is what A-Plus has done,” he added.
He emphasized the broader impact of the event, noting how it significantly raised the profile of the area and stimulated economic activity within the enclave.
“What he did has put a spotlight on Gomoa Central and the entire Gomoa enclave. For the five days the carnival lasted, I can tell you that the local economy there was boosted,” he said.
