Biography of Ghanaian TV/RADIO Broadcaster “Ras General”

Ras General is professionally a Radio/Tv Personality, Events/ Music Promoter, Blogger, Entertainment Pundit and Relationship Activist.

Early Life:

Emmanuel Amoah, Well Known in the Entertainment Industry as Ras General was born on 14th September,1989 at Nkusukum Opem, a small village in the Nkusukum Traditional Area in the Central Region, Ghana. He started his basic education at Victory International School, moved to Saltpond Roman Catholic Boys Primary/ JSS and later to Saltpond Methodist Senior High School (MEHISCO).

Growing up, he had the innermost passion and always dreamt of two prestigious careers, either to become a military soldier with diligent to serve his country or to become a world known Broadcast Journalist whose topmost priority is to speak for the speechless.

His enthusiasm to become a soldier was stronger so he tried several times to get recruited in the Ghana Armed Force but all failed, so he decided to pursue his second career which is journalism.
Before completing senior high school, He was understudying with a well-known criminal print media named “JURYNEWSPAPER GHANA” in 2009, under covering criminal investigative cases which exposed him to learn and researched a lot on how to report about criminal investigative issues. As an aspired research reporter, he had the opportunity to attend court sections with his senior journalists at Supreme Court, High Court, Coco Affairs, and Juveniles, anytime he was on vacation.

With this exposure, Ras after senior high school decided to pursued a professional course in Broadcast Journalism at Focus World Institute (Now UK Group of Colleges) where he graduated with First Class Upper Diploma student and majored in TV/Radio Presentation, Media Law and Ethics, News-casting, Reporting, Disc Jockeying(Djing) and Marketing/Advertising.

His focus and determination made him a favorite of his lecturer which later ended him becoming a teaching assistant in the media studies department of his school after graduation. Ras served his department for eight months teaching journalism.

MEDIA WORK EXPERIENCE

Ras General’s journalism career became very interesting and demanding when he moved to Golden Star Fm at Agona Swedru for his internship in 2012. He played as DJ, doubled as producer to various on-air programs consistently for six (6) months and then moved to Kantinka FM where he produced “REGGAE HOUR SHOW” with Ras Disko.

He moved to First Class Media College in 2013, as an Administrator and Lecturer where he trained students to become professional journalists.

In 2014, He was officially called to join Dr. Paa Kwesi Ndum’s Enyidado FM where he started his own reggae/dancehall show dubbed “LESSON TYM” to finally explore his all-time Study and love for Rastafari and Reggae music. His vibration and Education on his program trooped in huge audience and fanbase to the radio station and also increased his listenership.

Ras General’s hobby of listening to reggae music every second of his life did not just make him a great reggae presenter but also motivated him to write overwhelming, life-touching quotes and inspirations everyday.

With this experience, Ras increased his credentials as Lecturer at Positive Media College, Great Oak Professional Institute, Programs Director/Presenter at Great Oak Radio, Writer/PR for Mboxghana, Presenter/PR for CMP TV Ghana, General Manager/Presenter at Markk Radio, General Manager/Presenter at Supreme Africa Radio, Events/Record Label/ Artiste Brand Manager at Supreme Africa, Presenter at AG Radio, Promotion Manager(Reggae/dancehall Department) at Apprisemusic, CEO of Ras Gee Promotions(rgworld.net / RG-TV) and Host of Rasta’s Circles Show on ITV.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Nominated as Best Reggae Show Host of the year (Rastas’ Circles) for Central Media Awards(2019-2020)
