BIOGRAPHY OF KURABASO REDfyah

Abudu Seidu Kurabaso, aka REDfyah is a Ghanaian singer and song writer.
Born in Bole in the Savannah Region of Ghana, he is considered as one of the pioneers of reggae music in the Gonja Kingdom. His musical career is marked by blending elements of reggae to his native cultural rhythm, as well as forging a smooth and distinctive vocal and songwritting skill.
REDfyah’s contributions to music increased the prominence of Northern Ghana and Gonja music to the world and making his breakthrough with his Abagbrrrrrr global signature which catches the attention of his fan across the globe.

Currently, Redfyah is based in Techiman, the Bono East Regional capital where he owns and operates an art studio. As a hard-working young man determined to succeed, Redfyah also work as a TV and Radio presenter who does reggae music presentation.

REDfyah is the youngest child of his father and the only surviving child of his late mother Anataba. REDfyah’s father, was Yagbonwura Kurabaso 1, King and overlord of Gonja Kingdom whose reign covered a period of seven years thus from 1975 to 1982. REDfyah was at his tender age, when his father King Kurabaso 1 passed on. As a result, he and his elder brother were raised solely by their mother. REDfyah believes his upbringing contributed to bringing out his best personality traits and taught him important life values that helped him to be successful in life.
Ras Ajingo, a Rastafarian teacher, influenced REDfyah’s Rastafarian beliefs.
REDfyah’s passion for Rastafarianism led him to listen to reggae music legends such as Bob Marley, Burning Spear, Peter Tosh, Buju Banton, Luciano, Culture, to mention but a few.

With REDfyah’s popularity at school, reggae became a favorite music genre on campus. REDfyah, Ramzy, Ajeiwa and Black Nigga formed the Four Blacks. The Four Blacks traveled around Bole performing and competing in the area. Despite their families’ strong disapproval, the young group persevered and became well-known in the music circuit.

After listening to REDfyah’s his first demo “The Turban” Samuel Ababio aka X’tee, a sound technician was so impressed with what he heard he encouraged REDfyah to propel his career to the next level. Five years later the “city of Gold” Album was completed.

REDfyah has gained recognition with numerous awards and nominations over the years. In addition to his accomplishments, REDfyah, puts on a yearly “peace, love and unity” concert in Ghana enjoyed by thousands of enthusiastic fans.

When REDfyah steps on stage, his fans old and young feel his energy. His personality, stage presence and talent always takes his audience to the Highest heights. With his dedication to his music, one can only expect nothing but a bright future for this great son of the Gonjaland in his chosen carrier. Abagbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !
